Welcome everyone! Here's my weak attempt at a Banner, oh well.

Well after looking around the archives I thought tire signs would be a good way to start of my new feature as host.

I'll post a couple more of mine in a bit. Email me a image if you have trouble posting.

Come on everyone, let's see those SIGNS!!!!

Thanks Everyone!

Here's my meager tire sign offering. The BFG cookie cutter is pretty rare I think. Your banner looks great Fairlane.

I'll start you all off with a story........

A little story behind these three signs. My father is a professional painter and retired paid fire fighter. I help him durig the summer months.

We were doing a job locally and we were prepping a small shed when my dad noticed a spot the size of a small paper plate of the top sign up in the rafters. Well, I had to get up and take a look. I found the three absolutely buried. I actually thought the Firestone was a Exide because I couldn't see anything but an "e" and the Silvertowns was on its face and I couldn't tell what it was.

I talked to the owner who was a elderly man and asked him about the signs. He said I was welcome to dig them out to see what they were. He said they were there when he moved in. 1947! I dug them out. The top sign above was holding all the others up. The bottom sign was sandwiched in the middle, and the Firestone was on top. Unfortunatley it was facing up and bird poop had eaten through a little bit of the top layer. They were beyond filthy. The origianl owner just got the signs and stuck them in the rafters and forgot about them. He operated the station in the 30's and I'm pretty sure these date from then.

We negotiated a deal and I carted my booty home. A quick hose off revealed just how nice they were. A clean , buff, and a wax later, three really stunning signs.

There used to be a gas station next door to his house and the owner of the gas station used to live in this man's house. He actually bought the house from the station owner.

The Blue Goodrich actually has the original shipping tag still on the back addressed to the Gas Station owner. The Firestone has a wood frame on the back and is held on by brass screws. It still has the stamp from "Virtified Iron Products Clyde Ohio" on the bottom corner clear as day.

All the signs have stunning color and gloss. The Blue Goodrich Slivertowns is just like new.

These are the "stars" of my collection.

So with that all told let's see your tire signs and hear some stories........

Hi Chevelle,

Thanks for being the first "guest".

Great looking signs. That Couderoy Sign is awesome. Yeah, never heard of that one.

Thanks for posting.

Hopefully we won't "tire" of this topic. Of course this is where the "rubber meets the road".

Ouch! Enough of the bad puns. I like that banner by the way!

Here's another Firestone...

Note the other "Firestone" sign in the lower left. That one is for the beer, although they are related to the tire family.

Here's the Michelin man light up version and a Bear wheel alignment...

Hopefully more of you will "round out" this sign of the month post.
