When I was offered this Keesee pump it had a dozen layers of alligatored paint on its galvanized skins. I bought it about the time Mike Slama released his Seaside Silver Gull lenses. Since it was being restored in Carpenteria, near the home of Seaside Petroleum in Summerland and Santa Barbara, I chose to have it done in Seaside livery. Note the instructions on the label. The pump must have had a sump in the base that scavenged the gasoline at the end of each day(?).
The restoration reflects the many skills of Willie Brown of Carpenteria. Compare the massiveness of the Keesee cut 105 wiith the Boyle-Dayton cut 79 next to it in the attached photo. Even the bonnet is a 20-pound casting! Soon I'll add a polished nozzle and NOS hose. I anxiously await the Seaside decals from Mike Slama to complete the restoration to my liking. Al Barrows

Beautiful paint job but the wrong colors for Seaside. This restoration guy has his shop only a couple of blocks from my house but I've never visited him and I need to meet him. This is what the color should be

WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL,
I think Ray's colors match the por. signs [& the original decals I have] better.
Maybe it's just the camera photo's.

Ray,
You are right about the colors. Nothing wrong with the picture. I had Willie match the colors to the Slama lens and the Seaside cream is too yellow. It sure would have been better if I could have borrowed a panel from one of your authentic pumps to get it right. On the other hand, it is not going to be entered in competition like a car so all it has to do is look good to me. Maybe before I attach the future decal I'll ask Willie to repaint it. The finish is flawless and I hate to mess with it. Al B
