Hello Gang. Here's the little Bennett 15-gallon Lubster I got a few weeks ago. I picked it up at an auction, and just finished the 'restoration' over the weekend. It's funny what a little elbow grease, some chrome, a bit of sand-blasting and a little paint can do. As usual, everything except the decal on the front is paint. Enjoy. Later . . . Jim P.S. The rack of bottles is a complete matched set of 'Jay B. Rhodes' embossed bottles in a Jay B. Rhodes original bottle rack, with a correct set of Jay B. Rhodes spouts. All I need is a few more correct caps to complete the entire set. The small pump you see peeking out in the second picture is a little GasBoy farm pump I got for free a few years back. I'm thinking of doing it as a Harley-Davidson pump in the near future. [This message has been edited by T-way (edited 04-23-2003).]

Question, what are oil tops worth, bottles? I saw several when I was looking for pumps and asking antique store owners for info. They looked original but I did not try to buy any. I have no idea what they are worth. One guy had several and a few nice tops, old but clean originals. Educate me
I remember the good old days when gold was worth more than rust!

Aquaelvis:
Your best bet is to do some research on e-bay. There are many, many, many different types of bottles and/or spouts. The most common bottles sell for between $10 and $25. The more rare bottles sell for thousands!
There is a 1-gallon Gargoyle 'diamond' bottle with great color on the graphics, and the correct wire holder on e-bay right now that has a current bid of $2,200.00! And it's had its (non-removable) spout modified. The bidder is arguably the most knowledgable Oil Bottle expert that I know of - so the bottle must be worth that much.
As a point of conversation, the most I paid for any of the Jay B. Rhodes bottles with a correct spout (minus the cap) was $85. The rack itself cost me around $40 before I had it blasted and I painted it.
You can get some good deals at the antique shops if you know what you are looking at. But isn't that true for anything you might run across at a shop?
Later . . .
Jim
