I researched the "Dubbs Cracked" process in refining to find the patent issued to Carbon P. Dubbs in Oct. 21, 1921. (what a name to have working in the oil business) The prior process was called the Clark and then the Burton-Clark.
The Clark method was a batch and Burton-Clark was a continuous method with a daily shutdown to clean out the coke. The Dubbs method with tubes of various sizes and temperatures allowed runs of 10 to 20 days.
The Dubbs method improved gasoline yields from the 30%-32% to 40%-50% from crude. The Dubbs method was further improved by Gustan Egloff in a 1924 patent.
There were several lawsuits over these patents. Pardon my hit & miss on the details & facts.
Northwestern Oil Co. Cut Bank, Montana advertised the Dubbs Cracked process with there Grizzly Gasoline as did Leonard Refineries of Alma, Michigan. Are there other brands that advertised the "Dubbs Cracked"
