The auction ended early. Looks like he took the offer & ran ! I'd like to know what he paid for them.

I was in the running, did not get them, but the buyer paid alot more than 30K. The person that found and sold the lenses was a 25 year old mother of 2. Paid 150 bucks at a estate sale for both!!! She said her husband's work has been slow and this will really help them. Great story and nice to see someone struggling get a good piece of help.

What a nice story and a great price. I wouldn't even consider shipping those with a carrier. If I bought something that fragile and for that much money,I would at least drive or fly in to handle them personally.

As you said Roger "The person that found and sold the lenses was a 25 year old mother of 2. Paid 150 bucks at a estate sale for both!!! She said her husband's work has been slow and this will really help them. Great story and nice to see someone struggling get a good piece of help". I will agree 100%. Now 2 people are happy.

Well what about the folks that had the estate sale. I'll bet they're crushed. [This message has been edited by blackteetexacogold (edited 04-19-2008).]

"Well what about the folks that had the estate sale. I'll bet they're crushed."
That's an interesting question. If they hired an estate liquidator to sell their items, shouldn't the liquidation company have some responsibility to price the items according to a reasonable market value to get their clients their fair share for their possessions? If so, pricing something valued at 45k for $150 sounds plain wrong.
If they held the estate themselves then I guess they learned a costly lesson, VERY COSTLY. But hasn’t there been some instances where a seller like this (the estate sellers) has won a court case to get some of that money back, which I don’t agree with if I'm correct?

They advertised it for $150.00, it does not matter what it is worth to a select few, They got their price. and made 100% profit. That is why people go to yard sales and estate sales, to get a bargain, If everything was priced at market value it would be no fun hunting this stuff out.

Liquidation companies, I have know idea what their responsibilities are... Makes me think though ? Any one of us kicks the bucket, sure hope your family knows what's going on out in your garage.
