I bought this item on Ebay about 2 weeks ago and was very leery because I'd never heard of, or seen one before. I was assurred by the seller to take my time and verify the originality and he would refund if I ever wanted! I've taken it to 2 close friends that are long time Cities Service collectors and we seem to agree that its authentic. I'd like to hear from any other Cities Service collectors, as to their thoughts! Theres a pretty fair set of pictures on Ebay if you type in the item # 290270372262
If this doesn't work for you, I will try to upload the pictures to this site.
The shelving is excellent on this sign and the back really gives the appearance of being old. If it was a reproduction, why wouldn't there have been more than one made, or are there others out there? On the other hand, if its real, why hasn't anyone ever seen one before, or have they? 2things make me wonder and thats the porcelain around the edge is lowered right next to the edge, all the way around. Also the rivets are black instead of the normal brass color, like they just went over the top of them with the coloring? Any help here would be appreciated. If there is a Cities Service expert out there somewhere, possibly I could mail it to him for verification?
Thanks----KEVIN

Kevin >> I would be interested to hear the reply as well. This is the first I have seen this size sign and it almost seemed to good to be true. If it is real, you've got one beautiful sign. I have the smaller version of this (see pic) that comes up from time to time.

Good luck with your search for info and post whatever you find out.

What size is the sign you have pictured? The one I bought is 15 in by about 14.5 in

Kevin >> my sign is 9" or 10". Depends on where you measure it. Definitely a smaller version than the one you bought.

Well darn it anyway! The first couple of pictures that I ever posted on this website were easy and now I can't seem to do it right to save my soul! I have to run errands now so I'll experiment more later and see if I can't get a good picture of it posted. Later all!
