Does anybody know if this Ford globe is authentic? I have no idea one way or another, but would like to hear what some of the experts have to say.

Thanks...Kevin

I was wondering if this is the same globe that showed up at the Indy Ad show? Does anyone know if it is the same one or not?

TeeTee, I don't know if the one there was right or not. I talked to several people who went, and everyone did not know for sure. I did'nt attend either, so I did not get a chance to look at it.

i seen the globe & I know the person who had it at Indy....Price was $10,000 & one of the premire Ford memorabilia dealers (Dan) was set up there also & he didn't come close to buying it.......I really don't know what to look for on a one piece globe like this.....It appeared to be an old body with new paint, but could'nt somebody take a blank nos body & etch whatever they wanted into it??

Solar Electric Co. did exist, I believe they made an unusual size 3 piece glass body and lenses....maybe 14". Wagonner, Rosebud, Mayflower are a few of the odd size lenses. I wouldn't be suprised if they also made one piece globes. One could speculate if someone took an original blank globe and ethced the Ford Universal logo into the body.

Collect small Oklahoma Oil Co.'s 1920's-1940's. Barnsdall, Cushing, Eason, Marland, etc.

I looked at the listing and globe again, the Solar electric is upside down on the base. My theory is that it is an original canopy globe possibly originaly meant for Odd Fellows, Masons, Knights of Columbus, etc. that was never ethced and someone later etched the Ford logo on the original molded body.

I had a small exit globe that had solar electric company on the base and I think it was upside down just like this one.

I spoke with the guy that owns the globe now and has it on ebay. After reading the post on here he called me. I know this guy personally, have done business with him on several occasions, and believe him to be very honest and forthcoming. I would even call him a good friend except he is harder than Charles Smith to get on the phone because he works alot. LOL The worries about the globe I believe may be unfounded, as the guy is offering a 100% money-back quarantee if you are unhappy with it for any reason. He told me also, that anyone who wants to can come and inspect the globe BEFORE they buy it. I know where the globe came from and I can assure everyone on here it was nowhere near Sidney OHIO. I personally believe the globe now to be real after talking to the owner.

To quote a line off the old movie "Miracle on 34th street", ---- "DOES MACY TELL GIMBLE?" I am sworn to keep my mouth shut and this time I will.

Roger Why won't He tell where or Who He got it from ???? If it's original there should be no problem saying. I personally would not touch this globe, especially if it originated out of Mi.

No offense to the seller but I showed this to a very knowledgable Model T guy today and he said the font is all wrong for the vintage it's supposed to be. He said definately a fantasy piece.
