Lets just say its the difference in the way pump restorers and globe collectors look at things.

I agree, If there are only a couple sets known, lets leave it that way, It is getting a bit too much that EVERYTHING rare needs to be reproduced, No matter what people think, it most certainly affects the value if there are 2500 repro sets out there, It is just not a neat one of a kind anymore, everybody has seen it as a repro and it takes away the pleasure of seeing the only ones known. That is what I think

I have to say I am starting to feel the same way as some of you other guys. Every cool globe that comes along becomes a repop anymore. Enough already. You know thats why some of the guys that have rare globes won't post pictures of them here or in some cases even let pictures be taken of some of their globes. Marked or not they do take away from the originals "wow factor".

I need Seth to chime in here and I bet he will agree with me on this one. Probably 80-90% of the repo globes he sells for pump restorations are the common Texacos, Sinclairs, Gulfs etc... Right or not? I don't care if rare globes get reproduced even though I collect. As long as they are marked, they are not and never will be original. If I have a one-of-a-kind, and it gets repoed, it is still the ONLY original known.

roger,
It's not the same seller... they traded a collection and money for a car they had. I bought something for my collection from them and went and picked it up. Great people! I got there after all the globes and pumps went north.

Looking for anything from Hoosier Pete, Platolene 500 and Red Bird.
