I don't think the globe will meet reserve. I will guess an ending price though of 22000 bucks.

I didn't know who the seller was until Dick mentioned it as Bill Cambell. I think that will give it a little more "credibility" and hopefully remove any doubt of its authenticity. I mean, ebay is notorious for hosting fakes! Anyway, I think $23,560 for my guess.

Here's the link. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110010003441&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.com%3A80%2Fsearch%2Fsearch.dll%3Fcgiurl%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fcgi.ebay.com%252Fws%252F%26 fkr%3D1%26from%3DR8%26satitle%3D110010003441%26category0%3D%26fvi%3D1

My guess is it wont meet reserve or sold outside ebay, therfore ended early with "no longer for sale".

I hope he gets his price...there isnt much better advertising.

Kim

"..... And will that VIP glass be full?"

Yes, of the finest hand picked selection of packing peanuts available... which in a blind taste test could pass for chunky Michelob Ultra.

The amazing thing is that it didn't meet the reserve at that price. He must have been hoping for 30 grand?!?!?

I would be nervous to have that expensive of a piece of glass around.

Does anyone think that the globe price was affected at all by the fact that "Polly" was spelled "Poly" in both the auction title AND the description? I told a friend about the globe on Sunday and he told me there was no Polly globe on ebay like the one I described. I had followed the link here and added it to my ebay. I did notice it was not spelled right in the title but didn't give it much thought until he said it wasn't there. I would think that most of the big money guys would have heard about it through the grape vine but then again I search for Frontier all the time and if it is not spelled right I don't know that I would have ever hear about it.

Cheers!! to nochevys for the highest and closest guess...If you want a glass, send me an email w/your address. What's your poison??

Makes you wonder what reserve WAS, and how many people called or emailed to ask the seller during and after the auction? My guess is 56 people, ha!

Rarin', imo the spelling did not help the auction, but prob. didn't hurt it much either, what with the "featured plus" or whatever listing and some hype it was viewed 2186 times.

Maybe we will see it again?

doesn't e-bay charge an up front percentage fee for a reserve auction, non refundable if the item doesn't meet the reserve?

Yes there's a reserve fee, for the auction but no selling fee if it didn't hit. Think about it ??? What's the selling fee for $28,000.00 or $30,000.00, to lazy to look it up

I was told (by a very credible source) that this original polly globe sold after the ebay auction didn't make reserve in a private sale for $45,000. I couldn't believe it myself, but the person who told me the selling price would have no reason to lie about it. I think that is a record. Hope it helps. ~Jason
