When the bidding starts at one thousand dollars, you bet people will discuss it in a public forum. Start the bidding at 9.99 if you don't want to attract attention.

This guy's a piece of work. qoute from his post "And iam telling you guys from experience that any very rare signs in books are repros" Sounds like you need a LOT more experience.
Guess I might as well scrap all my rare S*** now! You ought to take note and learn from veteran collectors not tell us we don't know S*** otherwise you won't last long in this hobby.

It's not often that a seller comes on a site dedicated to a specific hobby and tells a group like this too; "p** up a rope", you don't know anything. To burn bridges with close to 13K members, then to say they have more experience than all the writers of the reference books, ballsy? But he ensures that he doesn't give his name. Maybe so not to let people check on that experience? We have a number of people on this site with tons of experience who work with signs, everyday. They trade, buy, sell and write some of the books that show "reproductions" as original. What say them? I can't believe that the big collectors like, Rich Gannon, Jay Leno, etc... wouldn't be having a bidding war if this sign were the "real deal". Just my 2 cents worth. But like Sgt. Schultz says,
"I know nooooothing"

I guess I started another mess here. Maybe I need to not ask people on this forum opinions on signs real or not. Everyone try and be civil to this guy, he is a little fired up, so lets not get him to mad. I did here him say that he has owned the sign for 30 years and did recieve an email from someone who knows who this guy is and said he is maybe 40 years old, so I guess he has been collecting since he was maybe ----------------- 10?????????? LOL

It appears all the bidders are waiting to snipe this ultra rare piece at the last second. It should be a bidding frenzy.

...I just added a new post to the 'known Unmarked Reproductions' forum...please take a moment to check it out...before you do, examine closely the difference between the small lettering on the bottom of each of the Jenney signs pictured above...'computer' lettering sticks out like a sore thumb once you learn to discern the difference...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...
