Am I the only one that is thinking that eBay might be walking head first right into a future Federal Anti-Trust "monopoly" lawsuit with some of these new changes?

They own eBay right?

They own paypal right?

They are making it so you have to use their other companies banking service to pay for anything bought from their other company right? So, you have to pay one of their other companies to buy from their "other" company’s auction site...

hmm? That really sounds kind of like a MONOPOLY to me. That and how mad is the US Government going to get when they start selling less money orders because of this new move. We all know you NEVER hit the Government in their wallets without repercussion.

Watch out… a Federal Backed Ice Berg!

I'm just an occasional ebay buyer, maybe two to three times a year, and always pay with a money order. Today I enquired of a seller about bidding on an item and if I should win it, paying with a MO. Their reply was they understand ebay will only accept paypal. What this means for me is..looking & wishing, but no more bidding.

Ebay is giving everyone all the more reasons to go to gas shows! Mixing and mingling with other collectors! I talk with gas guys every week that live hours from me. The friendships you build from meeting ithers is great! Ebay with have a hard time doing that one! LOL
I enjoy going to shows even when i don't have money to spend... that sucks bad too!

Looking for anything from Hoosier Pete, Platolene 500 and Red Bird.

It's easy to be a BUYER, being a SELLER is the tough one.. all a buyer has to do is submit a good CC. and its done.No fees etc.

As a small ebay seller I didn't mind the listing & selling fees. It's when they said I would have to accept PP, I QUIT.

hawkike,
I thought the same thing but since we pay to use there website and they have rules than we have to follow or get kicked off.

Jim has rules on oldgas we have to follow and some people challenge him and get the boot. Only differance is Jim is normally right and ebay is just crazy! LOL

I agree as an eBay buyer it doesn't bother me,but I was getting ready to list some items for sale this month on eBay,and now I won't because of this payPal only rule..
I have to admit, their timing sux, with the economy the way it is,they could'nt have picked a worse time to be PayPal specific in my book.
And how many other sellers feel that way is what will make or break eBay.
This is either the beginning of the end of eBay,or the beginning of the Monopoly.
All other websites I frequent seem to be echoing the same feeling.EBay is shooting themselves in the foot. Are they really that greedy & out of touch with the average american?
Price your item on a websites classified section like this one,or return to the cornfields or winter swapmeet complexes.
I'm listing items on Craigslist too,but just found out eBay also owns 25% of craigslist..for now.

More Ebay payment options, guess they heard you guys talking about a "monopoly" lawsuit. This is straight from Ebay.

New Approved Payment Methods -- Moneybookers and Paymate
In February, we’ll be adding two new electronic payment methods to the permitted payments list in the Accepted Payments Policy: Moneybookers and Paymate. These are established payment methods that increase the safe choices available to our buyers and sellers, which currently include PayPal, credit and debit card payment to a seller’s merchant account, Propay or Pay on Pick-up. To learn more about these new payment methods, visit www.moneybookers.com/partners/us/ebay and www.paymate.com/eBay. Please note, Propay also plans to open up its payment service to all levels of Powersellers starting January 22. For more information about Propay, go to www.Propay.com/eBay
