To quote The Godfather, someone must have made him an offer "he couldn't resist". Anyone on here???

Seller is a DREAMER.
Highest bid when auction was canceled was $6,775.00. Started on 9/26, ended 10/5.
Even in EXCELLENT CONDITION, with working neon & spinner, they'd be LUCKY to fetch $35,000 [IMO].

There was one of these in a auction in Flint a couple of years ago. All there, neon working and spinning away.

Bidding ended at about 12,000.00 +/-.

Yeah . . . they're kewl - but where the H@LL ya gonna put one? You need at least a 12' by 12' area with a minimum 10' ceiling.

That's a lot of floor space gone for most of us.

Later . . .

Jim

His response to my questions about the buy it now price:
Hello, regard the price: the owner is an old timer & he says he was offered 45K for THIS sign more than once, If that's true or not-who knows, all I know for sure is it will take more than that to buy it, so he made die with it! I just put it up for fun & who know! I have been offered 35K for it so far!...My reasoning is: if their are idiots out there that will & did pay OVER 100K for a silly game system (playstation 3) that they KNOW will surely go DOWN in value, then perhaps someone loves this enough to pay whatever it takes, right?. just rolling the dice!.

I think they missed a decimal.
Wish I had a dollar for every time I've heard "I was offered XX dollars for this a few years ago"

People do dream about the guy with no sense and lots of $100's coming along to buy all there stuff....

The thing that bothers me about this auction is that if the owner was offered 45K for this years ago why was it listed the first time around with no reserve if they thought it was worth so much. And then why was the auction ended only to be relisted at such a rediculous price? Were they afraid it might sell for less than 10K?

the auction reads (This is the second & FINAL offering for this vintage sign with great potential,it has been decided that if it does not reach the minimal acceptableoffer set (the same of which I have been asked not to reveal)it will be put in deep storage,& perhaps offered up for global bidding in another 5-7 years. )

so my question is what defines deep storage.

Funny, after he re-listed at this price he decided to put his wife (?) in one pic and himself in another. HOLLYWOOD! Now that is changed to not show them at all. LOL

Nice piece, no doubt. BUT we will see it again SOON

There was a sign like this in Crystal Falls Mi a few yrs back, in working condition. It's gone now. Wonder where it went. It looked to be in perfect condition, anyone know. It belonged to the local Mobil distr.

I sent him an "make offer" of $250 and he asked what i was smoking and blocked me from making an offer. I sent him an e-mail back asking what makes him think it's worth $85,000.
Some people just don't get it do they. LOL

And I quote from the listing....

"if it does not sell perhaps in a few years your chancemay roll around again."

I don't know about you, but I'm thinking that this will roll around again...he's going to have this in "deep" storage for awhile at that price. WOW. What the heck is deep storage?@?!

Seriously though, what do you guys think this is worth?

Doesn't it cost quite a bit to list a seriously high price? He had bids up to the 6600 dollar range before he started playing games.

I am actually looking for one of these rotator signs however i'd only pay approx. $12000, maybe more (depending on condition)& i think that would be a insult to this seller so i won't bother with this one.......
the only time you have to pay high listing fees on ebay is when you put a reserve on your item & i think its around 1% of the reserve..........
