Also seems way too white and the botom isnt threaded. Which brings me to a question. I asked that seller if the bottom was threaded and he replied by email that is was not. How come my question and his answer wasnt posted on his ad? Im new to this, and ebay, so do I have to do something to make the question appear on the ad?
Thanks,
John

John,
The seller has the option to post or not to post. The catch phrase for ebay should be caviat emptor.

I emailed the buyer of this globe. This person is a first time globe buyer and was unaware of how to tell a real crown from a repro. I sent info and the link to this thread so I hope they register and reply for additional support and advise.

Be careful out there.

Feel bad for that guy! Hopefully he can get his $$ back. What would a repop for the White Crown go for?

...sure is a shame that WHOEVER made these couldn't have been bothered to emboss 'REPRODUCTION' somewhere on the globe...in this day and age, they should know better...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

Ya can't see 'Reproduction' in an e-bay photo. As a buyer - or seller - you still need to do your homework. With the ease of the internet, it's relatively easy to research this particular globe.

I sent this seller a note stating the globe was a reproduction - they still sold it as original.

Hopefully, the buyer will opt out of the transaction - even if it affects his 'Feedback' rating.

Later . . .

obviously you can't see "Reproduction" in a photo, but it would be pretty hard to prove that you didn't know you were selling a repop if it was marked in the globe.

That's what a lot of you fail to realize!!!

All of these sellers get away with this **** because they say, well I thought it was original, or it is original prove to me it's not. Well when it's not marked that can be difficult to prove.

Do you honestly expect someone to go to the area of the seller and bring them to court. I mean think about it, who's going to spend all that time, effort, and money to maybe get their money back?

It's easy just mark the stuff you make. There's an obvious answer as to why so much stuff gets made and not marked, and it's all because of MONEY.

Update.
I heard back from the buyer. Apparently the seller wont hold the buyer to the final price and has given the option to buy at a lower price or opt out altogether without negative feedback.

Up to the buyer now.

Good ending in this case.
