I know this has been covered in the past, but... I thought I'd ask again to see if anyone has any new favorite ways to clean cans.

For you can guys, what is the most effective and least damaging cleaner you've found for cans. I'm thinking of using a spray foam glass cleaner, but thought I'd ask first...

Thanks,
Wes

I use handcleaner [without pumice]from K-mart, the cheap stuff. Try it on you worst can 1st[something your NOT trying to save]. I also use an old tooth brush to clean next to the seams/lids. DO NOT LEAVE ON OVERNIGHT.

I have had great luck using WD-40 oil spray. What better to break down grease than light oil without disturbing the graphics.

WD-40 works great, and I have even sprayed old cans and let them sit for awhile without any problems.

DO NOT use a automotive degreaser.....

I've had real good luck using the Magic Wadding Compound sold by Eagle One.

It's a cleaner-impregnated cotton wadding material. You just tear off some and rub lightly. It will melt any old grease/oil residue and then polish up the seams and top. Once you have it as clean as it will get - buff with a cotton towel or an old tee-shirt and your done.

It does work slowly so you can keep an eye on what is happening. On VERY rare occasions it will start to lightly remove the color/ink from the can. Just stop rubbing and buff and everything is kewl.

Plus, it leaves a 'protective' coating when it is rubbed off - kinda like automotive past wax, but this stuff is designed for cleaning metal/chrome/wheels/etc.

Later . . .

Jim
