#7219259225, 3 day auction can email and Buy It Now for 3350, sign not in Kansas as auction reads, he says it's in CA. He just moved, Right!!. I live close to where sign is allegedly located and father lives closer. If it was where they said and $3350 would have been bought a few hours ago and picked-up. He wanted wire transfer or something.....OBVIOUS SCAM and I reported to ebay and tried contacting the seller whose id was obviously hijacked.

QUESTION: Does anybody recognize the pic? or background b/c he obviously stole it from someone.

I just emailed the seller of the original auction that was two weeks ago. Someone broke into my ebay account two months ago. The only way in, is the password. Ebay tells me NOTHING they have a serious breech and WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE IT to the public. The reason i know the real seller is i bought from him the same week as this sign was on ebay.

Hey Bob:

How did they catch it ????

Two months ago I'm sitting at my computer and find I'll selling a John Deere Tractor and Snowmobile. The items had just listed and took my wife hours to get it off of ebay. To tell you the truth I'm pi--ed as h--- that ebay won't give me an answer to how it happened ???

Doug,

The most common means by which people get hold of your password is through spoofing. If you've ever entered your login information into a screen that comes up after clicking a link in an email that is supposedly from ebay, that could be how it happened. Hackers will send fake emails "from ebay" saying that your account info needs updating, or etc. The links go to fake logins that transmit your login info to them, so they can have fun with it. It's what makes their pathetic little worlds go round.

More recently, code has been inserted into auctions run by hackers that, when you click "ask seller a question" within the body of the listing, you will be diverted into a java-based fake ebay login screen. It can seem so routine you might not even notice.

Always be careful -- never click ANY links in ebay emails - even the "respond to this message" buttons.

ALWAYS go to http://www.ebay.com and do what you're trying to do from the ebay home page.

Wes:

It didn't happen that way, in fact we report all this to ebay. We get this **** aleast a dozen times a week. The new one is a "BID STRIKE" Where I and a so called seller can't settle the auction out, I've been supended. But thanks for the information buddy.

A SIMILAR INCIDENT HAD HAPPENED RECENTLY TO A FRIEND OF MINE WHO BUYS NOTHING BUT TOY CARS SUCH AS BRONCOS. HE TOLD ME THAT EBAY ALERTED HIM TO 64 BUYS THAT WERE MADE WITH HIS ACCOUNT INFO FOR COMPUTER PARTS. RIGHT NOW HIS EBAY ACCOUNT IS IN LIMBO AND HE'S PRETTY P****D OFF TO SAY THE LEAST. I MEAN WHO WOULDN'T BE.

3 YEARS AGO I FELL FOR ONE OF THOSE PHONEY EBAY EMAILS ASKING FOR MY ACCOUNT INFO. I BECAME SUSPICIOUS WHEN I COULDN'T GET INTO MY OWN ACCOUNT WITH MY OWN PASSWORD. THEY SUGGESTED I CHANGE MY PASSWORD AND CANCEL MY C/C WHEN THEY HEARD WHAT I DID FROM THE SCAM EMAIL. NO PROBLEMS SINCE....KNOCK WOOD!

In 2004 while I was at Iowa Gas. I won an auction THAT I NEVER BID ON. When I got home, I was notified that I had not paid. It was listed in my WON ITEMS PAGE.
I notified seller, he didn't care [or belive me], finally told seller to K.M.A. Do what you think you have to, I AIN'T PAYING.
Never heard from again & never received non-paying bidder mark.

I get 30-40 spoof emails a week. I used to forward them to ebay but I just get too many of them to fool with now so I just send them to my spam folder. I have never filled out the info they want. Turns out one was legit. I had an email from Ebay saying someone had accessed my account and they had suspended my account until I changed my password. I thought it was a scam so I sent it to the spam folder. When I went to bid on something my account was closed! I don't know how ebay found the problem, but they did. They caught it before the bad guys were able to buy or sell anything using my name. I changed my password and everything was OK. I change my passwords regularly now.

Don:

I think you made a great point where someone else could have gotten my password through paypal, etc.. When this happened, we used the same password for many things. All the eggs in one basket... Now we use different ones and will start to change them monthly. Thanks for all the advice, Dick, Doc, Bob, and Wes...

Doug
