Why does it matter?? I'm a financial analyst in the MidContinent business unit (upstream). However, I'm very familiar with our downstream operations.
Due to the agreement with Shell, the Texaco brand transition was allowed to play out over a four year period. Now, a year after the deadline, the time has come for the remaining Texaco stations not in the Chevron jobber organization to be forced to rebrand or close. Simple as that. I'm just stating that Chevron hasn't played hardball with these lingering dealers who have NO rights to the Texaco brand name. There should be a stronger effort to protect the brand and public image. IMO

Black T, All "Chevron" Texaco stations have a blue/white "with Techron" sign attached to the red/black "Star" ID sign. Techron is a Chevron trademark fuel additive. See an example of the sign at the following link... http://www.texaco.com/yourcar/techronadvantage.asp Texaco stations not displaying this sign, will have the old red/black "Star" signage. These stations are not affiliated with or supplied by Chevron's jobber network.

Why does this bother you so much Paul? Just asking. By what you have written it doesn't seem to bother Chevron management. I am sure that the answer to the question of forcing dealers/jobbers to re sign is not "cut and dried". What does one do with a frachisee who has a Shell lease with the Texaco name? It seems to me that this could be quite the legal minefield. Maybe that is why nothing is being done, or maybe something is being done and Paul you aren't high enough on the ladder to know about it. I think we have 2 Texaco stations here in town, but I never go there prices too high.

Bob, Review my previous posts for valid reasons why I'm concerned about the renegade Texaco stations. In addition, Old Gassers should be aware of the situation. If you encounter a Texaco station with no Techron sign and poor quality fuel, service or cleaniness, it's just your neighborhood independent station which just happens to have old Texaco signage in place.
One can't assume that Chevron marketing "management" knows what they are doing in this regard. I've seen this group lose many high volume dealers, losing entire sales territories to competitors. This is easy to do in this day of multi-branded jobbers always hot for the best deal. The business demands top-notch management to take appropriate action as needed to protect the brand and marketing territories.
That said, my sense is that the Texaco operation is still "small potatoes" within Chevron marketing. The company intends to manage the brand strictly through a jobber/dealer network. However, if they don't manage the business properly, the company could lose the long established Texaco brand image and customer loyalty. IMO

Paul, you still haven't answered the question why do you care so much? Because you are a loyal employee? Working for Chevron's MidContinent, I really can't believe that you are privy to firsthand information on Texaco within the Chevron Corporate structure. Now if has something to do with projections on safety programs, they might include you. Your comments about corporate management not doing their jobs is quite distressing, and they don't sound like the comments of a loyal employee. To me, as a stockholder, your thoughts would have more influence if you worked in leasing or distribution. SO again, why do you care so much?

A good friend of mine owns a gas station and was Texaco until he was given an ultimatum on up grades, it was going cost him around $30,000. They wanted him to change the pumps pay for the signage, the whole ball of wax, it was all or nothing. Sinclair came and did everything free of charge, and he didn't have to up grade his pumps.
Basically he wasn't a high output convenient store (still has two working bays) and they didn't want him as an outlet anymore, so they gave him the shaft.

Hey Thunder I was searching around and found the Chevron logo on a 2003 Jamie McMurray TEXACO/HAVOLINE NO. 42 diecast car. Here's the link. I hope. http://www.texacohavoline42.com/store/Details.asp?ProdID=32&category= So far I can't find it on the new NO. 42 Mike
