Big Jim of Mountain Home, Arkansas says: "I'm looking for photos of the Natoma Service Station, 5 miles south of Mt. Home Arkansas on Old Highway 5. It was the main spot in that area during construction of Norfork Dam." Here is a photo he found. Can anybody identify the brand on the sign near the pumps? Can anybody help with more info or other photos? ------------------ Jim "Oldgas" PottsYour host and moderator

Looks like a Pierce Pennant sign and a 1928-29 Model A Ford.

Here's a similar Pierce Pennant sign. The sign is custom repro based on an original, but the base appears to be original. Thanks, guys. ------------------ Jim "Oldgas" PottsYour host and moderator

Vietnam Vet told me about his mother was young, arriving to the area in a covered wagon. It was dark and pouring down rain. Her family spent the rainy night under Natoma Service Station roof beside pumps.

The book Guide to Gasoline Logos says that Pierce Pennant had extensive gasoline marketing in Mexico and marketed in the South Central states in the 1920s. Bought out by Sinclair in 1930. There are 7 different Pennant globes listed in the Benjamin-Henderson Gas Globe book. That would make me think that there were more than just a few stations.
The Rush "stovepipe" model H gas pump was introduced in 1925 according to the Illustrated Guide to Gas Pumps.

Pierce Pennant was out of St. Louis, off the top of my head I would say thay had more than 4 stations. I probably have more than 4 pictures of their stations in my collection, if I just knew where to look for them. If I find any, I'll post them as soon as possible. Just because it's a Pierce Pennant curb sign doesn't necessarily mean that it was a Pierce Station..... they might just have sold Pennant oil there. Like a Pennzoil, or Quaker State, or a Mobiloil curb sign out in front of a Texaco Station. It could have been a "no name" independent mom & pop retailer. Agree?

I know that there is one here in my hometown that people have tried to tear down numerous times but has been saved lately. The flag can still be seen on the front of the building. The station in rolla has been tore down along with the motel. The man to ask is greg Gazak,I will try to find out.I have 2 of the globes myself, missed the etched one.Definately out of St Louis and bought out by sinclair.
