If you are reading this, you are using the newly upgraded Oldgas.com Shop Talk forum. We are still in the configuration stage. There are a number of new features that are not yet enabled.
Please browse around and post new topics or replies if you are a registered member. Try out the new system. Some things will work differently. More features and visual changes are in the works.
I'm sorry to say that messages on the old forum system posted after 8 pm Central time on Tuesday were not included in the importation and conversion. Please post those messages again here, if you like.
Thanks for coming along for the ride. It may be bumpy at times, but the new system will be worth it.

The image posting method still works the same. But soon I'll get a direct image upload configured to make images easier to post. Plus lots of other stuff.
One thing will be a Members Gallery. Here you'll be able to upload a photo of yourself to be displayed in an album with other members. We'll will then be able to put a name with a face.
Stay tuned.

Looks good Jim, I was hoping the new look would prevent some from USING ALL CAPS, but we can't have everything

Looks good Jim, I was hoping the new look would prevent some from USING ALL CAPS, but we can't have everything EH, THEY'RE JUST WORDS...AND I'M NOT SCREAMING. I KNOW IT BOTHERS SOME OF YOU, BUT LET'S CONSIDER WHAT I'M USED TO USING AND READING AND I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS ABOUT LOWER CASE. IT'S MY TRADEMARK
AS A MATTER OF FACT THIS CHEVY/GMC FORUM I AM ON TRANSFERS MY ALL CAPS to lower case AUTOMATICALLY WHEN I HIT THE "SUBMIT" BUTTON.

To get your picture to show on imageshack upload your photo with pixels 80X80 or smaller and make sure the box is unchecked that says resize image to 640X480. After picture is uploaded click on the show advanced linking at the bottom of the page and copy and paste that link in your avatar box in your profile.

tx_oil - make it about 80x80 and host it at the imageshack - that is what I did - and used their advanced "links" to hot link it.

E-mail it to your husband, make him format it and put it on his website, then have him e-mail you the link. Copy and paste link into your profile. Very easy. Haha! :-)

Ok Wes, I put my photo up as the avatar – but I warned you I am ugly – so do not get mad at me when your computer monitor breaks!

Wow great job on the upgrade. Took some getting use to but really great. Its funny to see whos on especially spiders? Jim care to explain this - I see it points to (Hmmm what would be the term) web browsers I guess like MSM or Yahoo. Interesting term though. John

Ok, so, I love the new Oldgas and think I have a lot of the icons and whatnot figured out. But, there's one that I'm having trouble with. When you go into a forum, on the right side of the subject box, some topics have a little flame icon. What does this mean? Thanks!

NO. But that is a matter of opinion ! Depends on who you ask. When printing, I need to have something else to do. So I experiment & try new things. Some I like, others eh. Eventually we will all get use to this new stuff.

When I raced full time and we had a shop in Portland. We used to go to a "British" Pub, there, getting old and can't remember the name of it. I don't remember anyone wearing a kilt while playing darts. Which thinking back was good as most of the customers drove MGs, Triumps and the such. Getting in a small car wearing a kilt.......... well the sight might scar someone for life. Now if they had worn kilts, for the first time in my life, I would have kept my mouth shut. People throwing sharp pointy things... well it's best to stay on their good side. LOL

I really like all the New Changes here on Oldgas, alot of cool stuff we can do now. I like being able to have a Avatar and I think the Members Picture Album is a Cool Idea. I think all the Changes have also created a Good Buzz on the site, seems to be alot more activity on here lately. So I would like to Give Jim a Big "Thanks" for all he does for all of us Oldgassers on the Site. We all Greatly Appreciate the Hard Work you do so we all have a source of Great knowledge for this Great Hobby that we all love so much. Keep up the Great Work Jim and your team of Moderators!!!

You're right Esse! I'd like to extend my thanks to Jim and all of the moderators for their hard work. The upgrade was labor intensive, I am sure, and had to cost money too. I like all of the new features. I'm on a forum for a magazine I subscribe to, and had been noticing how nice theirs was. Then, lo and behold, Oldgas was upgraded to the same software.
Great job!
Wes

The name Sim is a sept of the Fraser clan from near Elgin in the Scottish highlands. I purchased the kilt in Paisley, which is the home of my mothers Scottish family (the Pratts). Have been a dart player since I was 14 and do regularly wear the kilt to dart tournaments. The picture shows my brother and I (I'm on the right). [URL=http://g.imageshack.us/img72/jackbobbq1.jpg/1/][IMG] I can put these pics up, but I will probably need some help on posting a pic in the profile. Jim, ad my name to those why want to thank you for all the good work. Couldn't believe I was member #30, am I the oldest (I don't mean age) one posting besides you? Jack Sim

I know it's somewhere in the 15 pages on the topic of this new site but will someone email me hotcidr@cox.net and tell me how to add pictures under the new format. Us old guys don't learn as fast at the youngsters. I used to go to help which took us to the right page but I don't see HELP any longer Ray

I'm working on a direct attachment upload of images. It is enabled only on the "Test Area" forum. See my topic "Test Upload" there.
Instructions are in that topic. At the moment, the instructions are good only in the test forum, but I intend to activate the process in other forums soon.
You can give it a try in the Test Area yourself.

Thanks for the kind words, guys! A spell check function is built into the Firefox Web browser software. It red underlines incorrectly spelled words automatically as you type in a submission form on a Web site. If you already have Firefox, it is under Tools, Options, Advanced, General. Check the box there for spell check. I recommend the free download of Firefox for nice added features and increased Web security. Download or learn more: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/
