I agree with roadrelics. I thought the Old Gas community had already put the question of the authenticity of these T-53 Pegasus to rest! With the 2 previous posts on these, one started by me in fact, we discussed the great numbers of these appearing on Ebay, the WAY too wide white border surrounding the horse, HOW were they mounted to a building, and how bad we felt for the saps buying them. I did point out in the one post though that SOME of the large 6 foot building size Pegasus's DO in fact have a T manufacturer designation with a 2 digit year code, but NEVER have I seen a smaller sign with one. To sum it up, save your hard earned $ for an authentic sign from a reputable dealer that will back it up with years of knowledge and who has a good reputation in the business. There are many on this site! Have a good day all,
Darin

There is no way we can police all the signs that are listed on ebay. As a group we can share info that we have or know of known reproductions. Most of us have been burnt at least once [or came close] on a reproduction.

This is just another reason why ALL REPRODUCTIONS & FANTASY items need to be DATED [cans, globes, signs, pumps etc], even if it's a 1 off for yourself or a friend. Somewhere down the line it will be offered FOR SALE.

According to my copy of the Mobil Collector's guide(1998) the sign should be 29x37 and would be a building sign. The seller states his is 29x36 1/2 and doesn't have brackets. The book doesn't mention anything about dating on the signs. The author's seem to mention everything else hard to believe they didn't mention the dating.

Guys,
Took another look at the sign offered to me by an "antique dealer" in my area, and it's exactly like the one Oldnfuelish posted from the current ebay sale. Will pass on this one.

Thanks for all the posts and even though the T-53 issue was discussed earlier this year, with the hundreds of postings on this site, I do miss some things and at my advanced age, even get forgetful. Great example of how the "good guys" on this site try to protect the hobby. Dave

160296962715, real or fake...anyone's guess at this point? It's up to $767.17 with 25 minutes to go. Wonder who the mystery winner (under Ebay's new rules) will be?
