I would guess $20 to $50. I have seen these at antiques stores once in a great while for $75 but they had it a long time and that store may still have it as far as I know. I have seen barrels that say "Property of Standard Oil", "Polarine", "Property of Sinclaire Oil Co", and "Property of Kuntz Oil Co". I was not able to get the Kuntz Barrel as it was sold for junk and recycled. I would guess the Kuntz barrel would have been worth between 100 and 200 but not sure.
It was used to ship various grades of oil from refinery to gas station. One person told me they shipped gasoline in these barrels but would guess that is highly unlikely.
Hope this helps.

Doc this has been brought up before somewhere. But if I remember right the value was around $20-$30. Most everyone said that the end was cut off with the lettering & hung on the wall. But if you can get it for free thats the best price

I've seen them sell in the $20 range. I paid $1 for mine. They were indeed used to haul fuel to filling stations. I've seen pictures of gasoline being transferred from barrels to underground tanks.

Re; Craig's list. Asking & getting don't really belong in the same sentence. [$1,000 is for 2 barrels]

They are nice thick heavy barrels so around here they make great wood stoves. Because they are so thick walled they don't burn out like a regular barrel does. Go to your local hardware store and buy a barrel stove kit and your in business. They last a long, long time and I would pay $30 for one to make a stove if I had to. I do have a extra on hand now.
