I like the rough ones also,I will buy minty ones if there cheap enough(not often)but I like the beat up ones also.I have one that came out of a bottom of a lake and another that came out of the ground when they were digging a foundation of a building.

This one had been used as a sled for the kids. Pulled behind a tractor. That is why the hole was torched !

Hey Esse,
I love old-n-crusty!
Just to think about the past and the people who were involved with the making of the signs or whatever and then them staying aroung this long! lota history.
this sign is from a very good friend of mine that passed 12 yrs ago and these were on the ground next to his shop/resturant. He took them down over 50 years ago, but I got the best of the 2. the other one gave into the worms."CAMPBELLS AUTO SERVICE" his daughter gave it to me.
The other ones are just plain old, along with the one I picked up this weekend. If anyone ever visited the LONG JOHN SILVERS you might remember the sword as the push bar on the exit door.I know its not automobile, but its history in the making for my mancave along with my ol barnbds and tin roof. I think it will fit in somewhere.forgot about the ol bike chain guard.

Here's a Phillips 66 sign you might be interested in. The Buy It Now looks to be overpriced, but they are taking offers.

I like a mint sign or a restored pump as much as anyone else, but I think I actually prefer the rusty patina of unrestored items. There is something beautiful about rust and faded paint, it adds a level of interest and uniqueness to an old sign or pump.

The patina of those signs looks great against your barn! Am I wrong or is that a 75-77 Camaro in the left side of the barn? I have an '81 Z28, always loved the 70-81 f-bodies!

This came from my very small hometown Chevy dealership(via the abandoned town dump many years later. It was folded over, run over, and burned-I still love it.)

Heres my contribution to the thread! grin Got this beauty for free from an old Pure oil dealer after I bought a few other things from him! He politely indicated that I should take that rusty old sign too before it went on the next scrap load!
Not sure what to do with it but the price was right and you can still recognize what it is!! I love this hobby but my wife thinks I'm crazy when I bring stuff like this home! She just doesn't understand! cool

I've always passed on the rusty sign, but after looking at these I may have gained an appreciation of them. They actually look kind of cool. I may want to give them a second look from now on.

I dug this Castrol Wakefield sign up last year. It was probably was a nice sign before the digger hit it and it was bent 3 ways, then after I tried to straighten it another 20% of the enamel "pinged" off !!
