All of a sudden I see this little thing flashing above my replys. Don't know what it is, so I click on it, and it seems four people have sent me emails, not the regular way, but some secret way, and the only way I should know they are there is this flashing ????
What happened to this website, when we just emailed someone when we wanted to ask them a question.
I know I'm getting old, but when something works why screw with it?
Please excuse me if I don't respond to your secret emails, I just don't seem them on my email list.

DON'T SWEAT IT JACK, I'M 49 AND I DON'T ALWAYS SEE THE BLINKING PERSONAL MESSAGE ICON RIGHT AWAY EITHER. ON SOME WEBSITES I HANG AT USING THE SAME "P.M." OPTION, THERE IS A SMALL WINDOW THAT POPS UP AS SOON AS YOU COME TO THE SITE. THEN YOU CAN EITHER IGNORE IT OR CLICK ON IT IN A MANNER THAT IT WILL DISAPPEAR BUT OPEN YOUR PM MESSAGES.
IT'S LIKE AN OLDGAS INTERNAL EMAIL SYSTEM (AN O.I.E.S!)

Hi Jack,
The secret email you are receiving is what is called a PM, or Personal Message. This is a feature that was included with the new forum software. People can still email you the "old fashoned" way just like before if they have your email address. I really think once you get used to the PM feature you will like it.
For instance, you will know with a PM that the person is from oldgas, and not a spammer, as you have to be registered to PM somebody. Your spam emails should go down (remember the nigerians).
If you dont like the PM feature, just put in your signiture to please email you directley at your website. I think once you get used to it though, you will be just fine with it.
Take care, Ryan

The PM feature is an awesome addition to the site, I use it frequently. Thanks to Jim and all those involved in keeping the site top notch!

Jack, Just think of it as Email but on a local level. Keeps things all internal. It was a little different at first I'll agree. But I'm getting to like it. I don't need to check into my regular email. It's like one stop shopping!

Jack; You can choose to have the PM messages sent to your email box.
Click on MY STUFF - PROFILE Then click the button to turn on or off PM to email. You can reply to them from your email box.
"Do you want to be notified via email when you receive a private message? Yes No "
