I have "Collecting Oil Cans" by W. Clark Miller as well as "American Oil Cans" by Tom Allen. I'm thinking of getting "More Oil Cans For The Collector", also by Miller but was wondering if it is worth it. Is the book the same as the first edition with just more cans added or are there all new can entries in it? I guess what I am asking is, do the two books I already have cover what this book contains? Thanks.

I don't have the "American Oil Cans" book. I do have the "Collecting Oil Cans" book and "More Oil Cans". The second book "More" does have numerous different cans from the first book.

Thanks Bob. So if I were to purchase the "MORE" book, I could throw away the first edition and not miss anything?

FYI...The two bboks I do have "compliment" each other. For example, "American Oil Cans" does not have a single Gulf, Shell, or Sinclair can but does contain Harley, Indian, and many Phillips 66 that are not in the other book. This is just a small example on how they compliment and since I do not have the "MORE" version, I don't know what has been added.

The More Oil Cans book has different cans in it than the first book. Do not discard the first book as the cans are not the same.

Thanks for the kind words, Jason. I do try to treat people as I would like to be treated.

There is no question that there is no one book that has all brands and all cans in it. Different people like different books because of their personal preferences and interests. I sure wish Tom and Susan would publish the second volume of American Oil Cans. I figure that #2 would cover the many of the brands and cans not in #1. But at this point with the economy, it may not happen.

...I like both of Clark's books and the Miller's effort as well...I gotta admit, I was more than a little disappointed when the Miller's 'Volume 1' had NO Gulf cans...they skipped right over it...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...
