Hi, new member here. Found this very informative site while I was searching for information on my Tokheim 34. Just wondering, there is not much information available for this pump and I have not found many examples of restored pumps. Mine is very complete including all of the internal workings including the pump and computer.Has any one done this pump in Polly Gas Ethyl colors? If so I would love to see some pics. Or Pics of other pumps for Ideas. I am ordering the Gas Pump restoration book, hoping to get some help from it. I will try to post some pics of my pump later today. Thanks in advance for any help in my restoration.

You came to the right place... if you need parts Call Ron Scobie...
If you wish to have your computer rebuilt, I can do it !!!
Dick Bennett has the info decals for the upper and lower computer sheet metal.

This is a 1934 computer but it is Not from a #34 Tokheim.

If your computer has price wheels it was made in 1935 or later
Thanks and welcome
Joe

If you are looking for the parts manual that was in the box with the pump when it was delivered originally, I have them listed on my website along with some other literature.

And the after picture. I got most of my parts from Ron Scobie and my decals from T-Way's Graphics. I think the 34 is one of the neatest pumps out there and they look killer restored. Good luck.

I have always been surprised that no one has ever commented about the special face Tokheim offered for their 34s. Imagine a 34 restored to Shell with this face on it.

Tokheim also offered this face for the 34.

Both are shown in my Gas Pump ID book.

Coops 427, Thanks for the pic. Your pump looks great. Do you have a paint # for the green? I hope to start on mine as soon as I get the spring planting done. Should have the few parts I need by then. Thanks to everyone for the encouragement. I have been researching the Tokheim 34 and You do not see many of them restored. I think they are a great looking pump.

Not as many 34 survived as the Wayne 60, or you'd see more restored.

Farmerfred, thanks for the compliment on my 34. I don't have a paint code on the green. I had about 2" of paint left in a 10 year old quart of yellow and green and mixed them together. To my surprise this was the result and the paint laid down perfect. Keep us all posted with pictures of your restoration.

Tom welcome. If you have the decal(s) you are going to use, then take the colors for the pump off of them. Always a disappointment when your body color and decals don't even come close in tint color. Or do what I did; Paint the pump white, put the newer red and white Phillips decal on it, LOL. We do like photos so please share the "journey".

The reason you see more Wayne 60 pumps restored than #34 Tokheims is they produced more 60 pumps.
The #34 was only made for 4 years 1934-37, Wayne 60 was produced for 11 years starting in 1935 when the 12" computer was introduced into service. The 8" computer only had about a 6 yr production period.1932-37?
The 60 took a 12" computer, the 34 took an 8" computer.
By 1937 MOST pumps that took an 8" were phased out, possibly due to the fact that VEEDER ROOT may have not had planned to continue making the 8" and 10 3/4".
So with the 12" computer, form(of the cabinet) followed function.
By 1935 most NEW CABINET Designs did not have a smaller top housing for the smaller computer, and to continue using a smaller computer would have made it more inset into the cabinet making it harder to see from the side while filling a car.
The 12" computer became and is still the standard size today. It may well have been the actions of VEEDER ROOT that killed the pumps that used the 8" computer.

Love the 34's! I would really like to see those optional 34 faces reproduced. Looks like it could be done easily?

Thanks for all of the positive comments. The pump is in remarkably good shape for it's age. The computer will clean up easy with just a set of new numbers, The counters and reset work properly. The original colors were a red body with a green top and middle band. There were no other colors under any of the bolt on parts. I have been trying to figure out what it was used for when it was new. I have the ID book and the Restoration guide and have not been able to find this color combination. I thing the Polly gas colors will make a good conversation piece as Polly was not used around this area to my knowledge.
