This is a reproduction double sided porcelaind Powerlube sign, they are very well done and the price is fair however it is 100% reproduction:

WOW!! That is Scary how Authentic it looks right down to the Maufacturer markings in the White Border and the Propperty of Powerine, Co markings in the White Border. If it had some Old Grommets in the holes this would be almost impossible to tell it is a Repo. Even looks like there is pretty good Porcelain Shelving.

With a $650.00 BIN price tag he is certainly not implying it is a repo!

This seller seems to have the "language" down pat. Notice they don't ever say that the sign is original. In fact they don't say it is a reproduction, either. What they say is "Per my Texaco collector guide book the original Powerlube signs had grommets around the mounting holes and this one does not. An origninal sign in mint condition like this one would be 2k plus". One had better read closely this person auctions, IMO.

sounds like someone did get tricked but why would they with the language that the seller used. It was a huge red flag to say an original would bring 2k, and still someone steps up. As long as people buy the dishonest sellers will be there. At least this seller gave some warning, even if not enough. It will probably be back on passed off as original. Shame on these folks and shame on Ebay for helping them by keeping the buyers hidden.

I don't collect Powerine, but my question is what does this sign go for in this condition...even as a repop? Aren't there repops that commmand that kind of money??

I think that sign is a 4-500 sign as a repop. It looks great there a few tell tale flaws that help us determine that they are a fake. I thought about buying it to put in a frame I have. You could step up and spend 3k for a NOS one or $500 for the repo.

What I think is silly is when people buy the tin AAA signs, knowing they are repo, for hundreds of dollars. Put a AAA tin sign and this porcelain sign next to each other and there is no comparison.

This sign says porcelain and I have seen this repop up close. They are very nice and $500 is probably the going price. I had no problem understanding the language as it seemed like all the legal BS I read here at the college. I think whomever bought this knew it's a repop. My 2 cents. Ted laugh
