Looks photo shop has been done. Building is angled and sign is straight... or am i seeing things?


Looking for anything from Hoosier Pete, Platolene 500 and Red Bird.

Original photo. Photographer was shooting up & at an angle to sign.
Maybe the only existing one. Very seldom did any sign company make 1 of anything.

Just putting it out there. It's hard any more to believe what you see because guys are getting so good at doctoring photos.
It just looked funny to me but now that you pointed out how the pic was taken it makes more sense.

If my memory serves me correctly, I think there is one in the Bob McDorman Collection at mcDorman Chevrolet near Columbus, Oh.

Hi,

I checked with one of my friends who has been a long time GM employee in Detroit and this is what he said;

'From the construction of the building and the window pattern, I would guess that this photo is taken at the GM Proving Grounds in Milford, Michigan. I believe the building is still in use as an engineering test garage."

'This sign looks like it may have been made in the Proving Grounds shop because the spacing of the letters is not exactly what most professional sign designers would have used.'
