I have a late 20's American visible pump, looks like a 2487-V. Does anyone know what Petroleum companies used this pump? Standard, Gulf, Sinclair, etc.?
Thanks, Greg 314-486-7127

WELCOME TO OLDGAS
Major oil companies bought new pumps. When the old ones were swapped out, the local distributor would loan or sell to smaller independents or for private use.
Go with the company YOU like, it's your pump.

Thanks, I am leaning that way. But I wanted to see if I could find out who originally used them.

Welcome to Oldgas.com Shop Talk. I'm in Eastern Missouri also. DeSoto. Good to have another Missourian aboard.

Pick a brand that appeals to you that is from the time period the pump was in service. Visibles were often in service for many years especially in rural locations. There are lots of smaller regional gasoline marketers that had great logos and color schemes.

We love pictures. If you have pictures of the pump, let's see them.

I have a 50+ page book of original American sales bulletins and the ONLY photo/drawing with a company name on it is "Sun Oil Company" (Sunoco). Hope this helps a little.

Thanks for the warm reception guys. I think I am going to go with a early Tydol or Phillips Unique presentation, great color combinations for either company. I'll get some pictures posted when we get it done.

Make sure to take some before shots. We like diamonds in the rough too.

Thanks Ron, do you have any parts for American pumps? Looking for the upper metal ring which secures the glass "cap" for the cylinder. Mine is rusted beyond repair.

Anyone know where you can get the brass metal clips that hold the measuring indicator rods in place? They are about 3" long bent in the middle at about a 60 degree angle. One end has a slot cut in it the other has a small hole where it attachs to the base and a large hole next to it where the measuring indicator rod slides through.
Thanks, Greg
