Talked to a guy today with a Texaco Skychief globe, on white plastic capco...he bought it at a garage sale.

Are there unmarked reproductions of this globe? Any tell-tale signs that it may be a repop? Finally, is this globe common on capcos? I thought most were on glass bodies...

Any help appreciated. THANKS

a repro should be marked at the bottom but im sure there are some out there that are not marked. they were also used on capcos. im sure some others will be around soon and can give you more signs to tell if its a repro.

Originals only for me. Always looking for Simpson oil, Super A, and MFA oil cans and globes.

The color of the "tee" in the star is usally white for the later ones that used capco. I believe all the repops were dated at the bottom. I don't know of any non dated repops. Repops did have the black tee. Watch as i have seen people scratch the bottom of the lenses to remove the date and put some black paint on them. At first you don't notice it but if you look you can see it.

Looking for anything from Hoosier Pete, Platolene 500 and Red Bird.
