HI, JUST GOT THIS HAYES VISIBLE WITH THE STORAGE DOOR. HOW DOES THE TOP CASTING COME OFF? I HAVE A JG DODY THAT ALSO HAS A CENTER POST AND A LARGE THREADED NUT HOLDS IT DOWN. I GOT IT OFF OK. HELP!!----DON

WELCOME TO OLDGAS I've got 2 sq Hayes's & nothing was holding the cast iron bonnet to the top of jar ring, just the weight of them. When I painted the 15gal, I extended the elect. conduit enough to add a washer & nut to hold bonnet secure [we have earthquakes & strong winds]. Jar top ring should have a large nut holding it tight to glass. db

I ditto DB, mine did have 3 tabs holding the bonnet on, a nut holding the jar lid.

IF the cylinder is still sealed in, I use Brake Fluid to help loosen the glycerin for removal.

hi, thanks. I HAVE RESTORED APROX. 20 VISIBLES BUT HAVE NOT USED BRAKE FLUID.IF I CAN WORK AROUND IT I LEAVE THE CYL. IN---DON
