I was wondering where all my old bend signs went, they are in Texas! I put them up against some fence posts in Colorado one dark nite a few months back. Some guy was following me for awhile in a Suburban.

Reading this thread has given me an idea, I live within 5 miles of I-5, I could buy some old signs and take them out to the freeway and straighten them in seconds. If one picks the right spot(in the tracks the 18 wheelers make in the pavement)you can even make a sign fit a visible. You guys are the best, driving over signs, who would have thunkit.

Got you all beat.. I am doing work at a plant that has a 1400 ton punch press!
Not only will it flatten your signs, it also has a FRIT RECOVERY SYSTEM!!
FRS for short!
That is to say after it flattens your sign, you can then take a brush and sweep up all the freshly powdered colors that were on the sign!!
Not good for fixing a sign, but great for stripping the porcelain to reuse the sign blank!!

I picked up a sign last year that had some bad bends in it and tried the sandwich thing between 2 pieces of 3/4 inch plywood. Parked the rear tires of my dually over it for several days. Flattened it a little but still wavey and sustained a little extra porcelain loss....nothing major. The plywood thing worked but it also required some old fashion hammer work to get out the creases. ....Must be a Colorado thing....... ....besides......it was just an old Polly Gas sign..... ...Just kidding! ------------------ Chuck Signs Wanted: Sunset, Clipper, Habor, Indian, Powerlube, Beacon, Sinclar Aircraft
