I pass this station alot and finaly took a picture. Looks like the shells have been painted over for a long time. Wonder if they are porcelain.

MY GUESS WOULD BE THAT THOSE CLAMS ARE LEXAN AND MAY'VE BEEN LIT UP FROM INSIDE? SHELL WAS ONE OF THE EARLIER COMPANY'S USING INTERNALLY LIT SIGNAGE.
1948 I BELIEVE. ALWAYS LOVED THAT STYLE STATION.

I guess I could walk around back for a closer look to see the access for the signs and maybe stop by when it is open to find out some history.
