The graphics\color line up against the rusty seam in a razor straight line almost as if it's a vinyl wrap. Would want to hold this one in my hand and feel the seam. I bought a fake Polly can once and the seam\graphics were very similar. If it's real it's a cool Hoosier related can!

I stared at those photos for quite a while looking for some tell tale mistake but my feeling is that puppy is legit. I believe I counted 8 different bidders at this point and that has been a positive indicator for me (in the past) that several others are confident in it as well.

That is a cool looking can. If people do feel it is real it should bring a pretty penny. It is surprising that the rust hasn't found it's way into the painted area, especially around the seam.

I dont believe it is real. the cans metal is in poor shape, but the label is too nice condition, and the edges at the seam are too sharp and unworn..looks like a vinyl wrap to me,,RD

I have gotten a couple of the fake vinyl wraps before and believe me, they are very good and very hard to tell but if you look at the seam picture, there is NO indication of a texture as there would be with a fake. From the overall looks and condition, plus the looks of the seam area, I'd be willing to bet a large sum that its for real! I've got to think that it would be a real treasure for some lucky collector!!!

I have to agree with bustermonty. I would want to hold this one in my hands. I don't know the seller and it appears he deals in tins but these wraps the guy does out here are impossible to tell with out having one in your hand. Might be able to get a full refund if a wrap but I wouldn't touch this one without holding it. My 2 cents. Ted

I haven't heard of vinyl wrap before. Is it a recreated label and glued or attached somehow to a can?

Yes and some of the best ones were hard to tell. A seller on Ebay who went by Earlyman34 sold some that looked real. They were applied to an old rusty can and then scuffed and dirtied up so it was hard to tell by looking, but you could always feel the edge by the seam. Of course by that time you already owned it.

If you want the Can don't be worried about taking the chance, but make sure to pay with paypal. Paypal and Ebay always covers the Buyers Hind End!!!!

I sure would want to hold this can as well. While there isn't always a company name on every can, I would think there would be some indication of the oil company's name who distributed the product other than it being a product of the U.S.A. Pat.

Looking for early Pure Oil Company items(Energee,Detonox,Puritan)as well as any Woco Pep items.

Looking for graphic quart cans for my collection.
