I guess at one point and time I was told that these were used at gas stations. Any truth to this?

Yep American Oil Company. I think it was associated woth their production of those political pins which are on cards but I'm not sure of that part. There was on on feebay about 6 - 8 months ago - didn't meet the reserve. I believe they wanted $125.00 and were bringing it to their consignment booth somewhere (I can't remember) I only remember what I remember because I was interested in it. John
