Hey guys, just wanted to take a minute and introduce myself. I just bought a g&b t-176 to restore and put in my game room next to a 1977 Eight ball pinball machine I scored last year. The pump is in pretty sad shape skin wise and will try to resurrect it.I will probably go with the Polly gas logos as i have parrots and think that would be a nice theme.
I work at a refinery that was started up in 1908, became the Sid Richardson Oil Company at one point, then Texas City Refinery which own some Rebel Gas Stations back in the day and is now Valero which took over Diamond Shamrock( or maybe it is the other way around). I also worked at the Houston Refinery which at one time was Signal( had the logo in tile on the control room floor) and later became Charter Oil( which i have not seen any thing on the site from those stations and now is a part of Valero also.
I just wanted to add that I think this is a really awesome site and have been reading up on a lot of posts and ideas on how and where to get started on my pump.
Hope you are having a great Sunday and your football teams are doing well. The Texans got spanked today, but there's always next Sunday!

Welcome to Oldgas. I hope that you have LOTS of room, because not only do the pumps multiply, but they also have a way of inviting a bunch of friends to visit too...

Like Mick said.... Lots of pics....

From a old OCAW worker to another welcome. Don't go to sleep in the control room and blow the place up. As a old maintenance man I had to help put the refinery back together. Mitch

Hey guys thanks for the warm welcome. Wes,I didn't get a pic of that tile floor but I'll see if I can contact some old friends and see if the control room is still there. It was in the crude unit and they centralized all the control rooms into one area.
Mitch did you help rebuild the Texas City refinery after the 1978 explosion? That was 2 years before I started working but I was driving in front of it at the exact time it went up(we were headed to our high school graduation party at Galveston beach).
I will try to post pics of it right when i bought it and through the process of restoring it.
What's really funny is i don't even run my truck on diesel, I converted it three years ago to run on veggie oil and some of my friends have suggested that I use the pump for my bean juice, lol, cept that it would take a lot of pumping to fill my 60 gallon take up!
Anyway, you guys rock,I enjoy the site and will be asking questions and p.m.ing some of you guys!
Let's have an awesome day!

OK,guys here is the old gal. I already have her torn apart and have been working on different things like stripping the skins, tearing apart the pump and getting ready to get my inventory list together.
Ohio, I work across the street from the old Marathon Refinery.
