The going rate seems to be about $1400.00 for a wide 60.
1) 5 hours worth of work @ lets say $25 per hour.
2) fuel for at least 540 miles round trip....lets say 15 mpg = 36 gallons @ $3.50 per gallon equals $126.00
3) meals say $50.00
comes out to $301.00
from $1400 equals to $1099.00 to the good.
hummmmmm. even if you take the trip and come back with nothing you still came out ahead.
remember the old saying...
"the early bird gets the worm"
I would be on the road!!!!
just my 2 cents........

I look at it this way....if gas were say even as low as $2.00, you wouldn't think twice about going up there. So, if it's $3.50, it's costing an extra $1.50/gallon. If it's a 500 mile round trip, and you get 15MPG, that's about 35 gallons give or take. So in essence, the only difference is $52.50 between absolutely going & absolutely not going. It's like some of my employees complaining about the gas prices eating up their paycheck(granted, I realize it's high and it sucks)but I sat them down and we figured up how many miles a week they drive (they all live within 5 miles of the shop) and none are driving more than about 100 miles/week total. Out of all them, $15 was the highest extra a week it was costing over $2/gal.

Boy, it sounds like we are a bunch of gas collectors. Everyone chomping at the bit for you to get a find....Hey TX Pelican ...you call that work!!!! that is like a vacation to me.....better than electroshock therapy!!!
MMMMMMMM pump lobotomy!!!!

I say borrow your brother in-law's Toyota, Pack a couple of bologna sandwiches, fill up with some regular, and go bring the boys home. You can get 4 pumps in a Datsun bed , I am sure a Toyota will work too.
Just take lots of rope. I love getting those looks when you have a rediculously overpacked truckload of gas stuff.

Been in therapy--bought and restored pumps. Both cost bucks and take time. These days I get more out of the petroliana stuff.

I got thinking about it and I decided to call my buddy that lives within 25-35 miles from the site and see if he could stop by and give me a run down on what was there, The Forman told me he had 4 more ,But where they wayne 60's or just gas pumps , you know common stuff ? so When my Buddy calls me back we'll know. And no he is not a Collector But he does know what he's looking for He's just not into Gas and Oil ,so I don't have to worry about him ripping me off. Bruzer75 I don't own a digital camara but my son is coming home this weekend and he will take some shots and him or T-Way will post them for me . but believe me I'm checking it out .
