No I only worked in Cheyenne but we blew that refinery up several times while I worked there. That's the cost of making gasoline. Mitch

Hi Zooman
I retired from the Shell Deer Park Refinery as a pressure equipment inspector in 2005. I too was bitten by the gas pump resto bug and have done several pumps for friends and for my collection.
I recently sold a G&B 176 long door in need of resto to a friend and I will help him with the resto. It needs patch panels on the bottom skins, so that will probably be the most challenging part of the resto.
I bought one of my Rush mod K's off Craigs List from a guy in Alvin, but I don't recall his name. It was very rough and I had new skins rolled by a shop in Pasadena. Turned out real nice and it is done as a Super Shell.
Good luck with your project and if I can be of help, let me know.
Wayne Scott

Hey guys thanks again, Wayne my pump probably came from the same guy.His business name was "That guy on 35" which is where he is at in Alvin, on 35. His name is Merrell and I have always thought he was a good guy.I bought a mini globe from him years ago at the Autorama. Hope everyone has a great day. Troy

When you guys suggested posting more pics I hope it is acceptable to show the point of interest of why I wanted the visible pump.I intend to park her in the corner next to this 1977 Eight ball pin. Since I live in the sticks I have to have something to relax me after a hard day at work, in the gym or working the property. My time is pinball. And I think the pump will look fantastic in the corner next to that. Now i do have two other pinballs so the insanity may continue.

The first couple of questions i have is if any one has pic or a drawing of how the arrow(to car to storage) ties into the brass valve and slide indicator that comes out of the top smaller panel? Also is this the area to ask these questions or should I start a new thread. Thanks for any help, Troy

Arrow rod does NOT connect to valve handle. When the arrow is in the up position [to car], the valve handle has to be in the closed position & door will be open. With the arrow down [to storage], the valve handle is in the open position [all the way to right], nozzle inside door & locked shut. With valve open, you can pump handle all night & never get any gasoline to stay in cylinder.

It's been a couple of years ago, but I don't recall this guy being on 35. I think his shop was near some railroad tracks. Was an old building with some other businesses in it also.

Dick thanks for the reply, so then what did the lever( which is gone from mine) that sticks through the slot by the upper door go to?

The lever-handle is what controls the Drain Back valve inside. With the arrow up [to car] the rod attached to it would keep the lever in the closed position & door is open.

Dick, would you or anyone have any pictures of it or drawings? Of course this doesn't make or break the restoration of the pump, just am really curious. Thanks again for the replies, Troy

Now Dick that makes sense, thank you so much! And since you were so kind to help me out I will try and get a few pics of some old gas stations this week for you. Seems as though the Mrs. called in her favor. By allowing me to purchase the pump several weeks ago she said I was going to pay big time. Well I have to go to a hummingbird festival in Rockport and oblige her request. But it is an older town and nothing changes much there so I hope to get some interesting pics. I'll just have to tell her it's a hummer I see flying when i take my pics at an old station or of some old signs. Again thanks, you rock and thanks to all you other guys who have offered help and have welcomed me. Awesome community here Troy
