I am restoring a Willard Timemaster battery charger and am in need of help determining what the original colors were. The paint on it is faded and the script is visible, but I cannot determine the original colors. This is a wheeled version. Not sure how old it is, but I would guess 40 to 60 years.
If anyone has a picture of one, I would appreciate a copy to help with the resto.
Regards,
Wayne

Just wondering out loud but would a Willard battery cable sign colors be similar? sort of a maroon and cream, probably from the late 40's or early 50's. tt

Might be. Some of the outline paint could have been cream and it's possible that the main body was maroon. This machine is so faded and has surface rust that it's hard to define the colors. I would appreciate seeing the picture.

Personally, I wouldn't get overly concerned about the color. Most of the Willard signs I've owned have been red and most service station equipment used to be red. I would just pick a nice shade of red that you like and shoot it. Maybe do some outlining/contrast with black.

I have a file filled with battery charger ads, including Willard, if you post a picture I'll look and see what I have.

Thanks Jack,
Here's a photo.
BTW, I have both your autographed books. Very helpful resources.

Went through a pile of battery charger ads about 3" tall, this is the only Willard charger I can come up with. It seems Willard has been in business since at least the early teens. This ad is from the early 50s. Jack Sim

I took the charger apart and under the knobs it appears that the base color is white as Jack's ad shows, so that's what I will go with. The lettering & outlining colors appear to be red, black & maybe yellow. The wiring is in reasonably good shape, but I was hesitant to plug it in.
Should be a nice display piece with a gas pump island once it's done.

From the looks of it on Jack's ad I seen it in the Jetson's. I think it was one of them robots that helped around the house. Mike
