Ok so Tokheim 39 talls are one of the more common pumps out there and here is one with what looks like an average restoration for over $1500.00???

I have watched the price trend in the more common pumps fall but this seems like alot for a common pump with repop globe. Am I missing something or is this just a case of "Ive gotta have it"

Ryan, I know it seems like a lot for a tall 39 but if you figure the cost to restore a tall 39 pump: Original pump 350.00 - 500.00 Sand blaster 100.00 - 200.00, Fuel and time to go pick it up and chase supplies, Globe, mounting ring, decals or signs,- 2- window glass, 4- add glass, chrome, hose, nozzle, rubber, face plates, wiring, light sockets, 450.00 - 500.00. Not sure if you have check body supply prices but sand paper, bondo, primer, sealer, paint, hardener, reducer, clear coat, hardener, reducer, solvent, buffing wheels, rubbing compound, final polish, 200.00 - 350.00. final cost 1100.00 - 1550.00+ not to mention 30 - 100 hours of your time depending on how fast you are or how good of a job you do. I'm not to sure 1500.00 seems like that bad of a price.

Ryan, I will have to agree with gaspumpman on this one. I think $1500+ is a good price for it. The general public's consensus is that these pumps should have all in the above post done for pennies on the dollar. If it were mine, I would take no less. JMO

Thanks, Phil

Unless you did it yourself-"all the labor"--you couldn't get it done that cheap. The body shop bill comes in pretty high!

Ryan. I have a tall 39 with a perhaps better than average restoration inside and out. I've turned down $1,800 on it twice because I wasn't sure I could replace it for that, even with me doing all the work except body and paint. Just something to compare to.

I have to agree that the price is fair. Think about it, where else can you get a restored Tok.39 for that? You sure can't do it this good this cheaply yourself......unless your time is of no value. Just me talking

Well there are 2 different restorations people do.

1) being nice straight pump, sand blast to bare metal, remove small dents and base/clear the pump, re-chrome or polish stainless trim, new globe, hose and real metal signs.

2) scuff rusty pump with holes and fill holes with bondo, shot one stage paint, paint rusty trim or just install old stuff, old hose, decals and globe.

I have seen people do the second restoration and try to get $1500 for a pump and it's not worth that. You have to take in consideration what the condition of the restoration was and then in the end it's only worth what someone is willing to pay. Last thing is what brand to do a pump in?

I bought these two so called restored pumps and payed unrestored price because they were not done nice. They look good in the pics, but need to be redone. The Signal is alot better than the Chevrolet.
