The archecture in some of the stations was so nice ! Too bad some of the stations here in the states didn't follow suit. I think they would have been some real traffic getters ! Ed Shaver

So it looks like some of the pumps with the small domes on top where the globe would go had hose swivels on them, cool idea.At least thats what it looks like to me.

Neat! Except for the Nynas and one or two of the Esso stations, they didn't strike me as all that different from U.S. stations.
Did Swedish stations of the era tend not to have garages the way U.S. stations until the ~1970s had? If not, did people always take their cars back to the dealer?

From ca 1950 and onwards both the Swedish brand Ljungmans and the British made Gilbarcos had the arm on top that was possible to turn all around the pump.
Some of the British models still had the globe on top of the arm, but not the Ljungmans pumps.

The small domes were a swivel for the pump, this was very comon on European pumps.

I would agree that many of the Swedish stations were very similar to the US stations.

Many of the stations in the countryside were just small buildings with one or two pumps. Many had garages off side, but many were just places where you could buy gas, oil and perhaps Kerosene.

Thanks very much. I liked the Volvo gas delivery truck and all the other Volvos. I still have a p1800 like the red one. Great cars.
