Ok it's all done! When every one was posting there "office" on the other topic i was right in the middle of redoing my office so i couldn't post a pic. I decided to post my whole redo. Think i over did the shelf? LOL
There is 14ga romex wiring all on 40watt bulbs and on a dimmer. The all thread is 5/16" with 3/8" chrome water tubes from home depot with the flange cut off. The laminate is a real dark gray with black specks. It matches my desk.

I also changed out the lighting in the room from (1) 4' florescent to (4) recessed can light and painted the room a medium green.
I did all the work myself.

Wow, outstanding job John. I think you could park a car on that shelf. But what about that lonely oval Zephyr globe? Now you need to build another shelf. LOL
Thanks for posting the process. Inspiration for the people of Oldgasland.

GREAT job, John!! Don't suppose you'd be driving thru Hillsboro, Ohio any time soon? If so, I'll provide the beer and hold the ladder for you if you want to build another one just like it.

Thanks guys for the comments! It took some time to think of how to get it up there with the all thread and chrome tubes and get holes transfered. Jason, No globes were harmed in the making of the shelf... they weren't even in the same room. I am getting smarter! Kim, I have the globes all over the place. Just glad to get the one out of the bathroom. LOL Laundry room Family room Down in the barn.

John, the shelf looks great. Have you started on the next one yet, I don't see much extra space on there for future expansion. I only wish that I could ever get caught up around here, so i could do some stuff like that, my globes are all displayed inside boxes. lol tony

Thanks guys for the comments. It was a lot of work to just display 10 globes and wasn't cheap. But it did turn out as good or better than i thought.

John--I have your plans on my desk and hopefully they will become reality after the snow flies this year! There will be some subtle changes in the attachment but otherwise it should be the same. Be nice to get some of them up and off the floor! LOL
