My dad and I have been working on a place to display our collection. We don't have alot of stuff or anything real high dollar but its still fun to have a place to enjoy what we have. Its getting close to be finished but still have more work to do. I thought that I would share some of our work with you.

Started from the ground up.

Great attention to detail, especially the tin ceiling and the globe rail. The Flying A station I worked at as a kid had a rusty "well worn" tin ceiling. I hope to add a faux tin ceiling to my 80+ year old kitchen.

Wonderful! The art-deco shelf and tin ceiling really bring it back into the good old days. You've got me dreaming about a future building at my place.

Like the building!! I have to ask did the 2x4's for the shelf screw to the side nefore drywall or is it screwed to the front? I know the glass body globes are heavy and at 20lbs apiece it doesn't take long for weight to add up. Where did you get the metal for the front of the shelf? I love the look of it!

Looking for anything from Hoosier Pete, Platolene 500 and Red Bird.

Thanks for the comments.
The globes are secure.
The shelf was built into the wall studs before the dywall it is very stong.
The metal front on the shelf, I built it. Started with 20 Ga. flat sheet, Broke into a C-channel, then it was run through the bead roller for the three lines, then I used a shrinker and stretcher to make the curved ends. Finally the paint.
The ceiling is actually wall paper, with crown moulding and then I masked it all off and sprayed Rustoleum Aluminum on it for the tin look. Everyone that walks into the room thinks it is a tin ceiling. But way more affordable.
And the mural on the wall is an ebay find, had to trim all the edges and put it up in two sections. Looking through the door gives it a shadow box effect and almost looks like a real station off in the distance.
