Hello! On the top of my Bowser 575's nozzle holder there is a (1/2-3/4") threaded hole. What the heck is this for? Advertising? Nozzle rain shield or something?

Thanks in advance.

Ryan:

It probably held a threaded rod with a 'Pricer Box' or a 'Point of Sale' advertisment piece attached to the rod.
You will sometimes see these pieces in old magazine ads.

Jim's correct. During this pumps life, most stations used a price flag to advertise the price to passing motorists. They didn't have the big pricer boards like we do today.

As mentioned, it was for advertising, it is also the same thing that the hole in the Tokheim 39 and 300 tops was for.

Here is a photo of one on ebay right now. Not sure what pump it goes to as I'm not well versed on pumps. Auction #280419903033

This one is dbl sided and has Sinclair embossed along the edge.
