Don't forget Dixie used ripples. I've seen an original shipping box for a "yellow jewelled body" from 1932 to a Dixie station in Oklahoma.

Cushing, also in OK, used alot of orange ripples also...

Craig,
There have certainly been a number of "disagreements " on this site, but I have never noticed an East Coast/ West Coast thing. Maybe you are thinking of rappers. I think most everyone in this hobby will try to help you out if they can.

Craig, one last thought from me, if you really want to know globes, subscribing to one of the two magazines will be real helpful. "Check the Oil" always has a "globe of the month" article by Lonnie Hop on here and he is very knowledgable and been collecting for a real long time. The other magazine, (Lord, forgive me on this one), is Petroleum Collectibles Monthly, also another great sorce for information on globes as the editor and owner has been collecting and dealing in globes since he was a kid. That magazine always has indepth articles on what globes are worth and the differences in bodies and rariety and so on. I would recomend getting on the mailing list of both of these and your globe knowledge will go up tremendously. Hope all this helps.

Ok who stole Rogers password? LOL Just kidding with you Roger!

Yes both magazines are great. I used to get both but switched to PCM only as it is monthly where as CTO is bi-monthly.

Looking for anything from Hoosier Pete, Platolene 500 and Red Bird.

A production question....How were the original ripple body globes "colored"? Was the glass cast in the desired color?.....or was the inside of a clear glass ripple body painted? I've never owned a ripple, and am curious. Thanks, Gang. John

The desired color of paint was baked on a clear glass body. There were a few of the repros that were made with colored glass.
