I am restoring a couple pumps, they will need minor body work and then everything painted. Sometime after the first of the year. The parts would be sand blasted, and everything would be taken apart. If possible I would like to emboss a couple of the new skins. If I new it would work, I would cut out a pattern of the origional embossing and redo it on a new skin. "Tokheim 34" prety simple pattern, i just wonder if you would get warpage. Or maybe cut out patern and tack weld on skins. If this can not be done just simple body and paint on. Any help would be appreciated, thanks for the responce.
Would be glad to post some pictures when done. Thanks Lee

Hi Lee,
Your concern about panel warpage from sandblastihg is well founded. Personally, I had so much problem with it that I haven't done it in years. See what some of the other guy's think; maybe I just had bad luck. Is that a 34 you are working on?

Its true if done wrong sandblasting can really hurt a panel. But if you have someone who knows how to do it and uses the right media, then it can't be beat for getting a panel clean and ready for body work.
Lee I sent you a PM

Yes its a Tokheim 34 I'm working on. I was also concerned about warpage when trying to re emboss it. Thanks Lee

That looks good. How did you end up with that, did you make a die to stamp it? I have a 34 and was thinking of making something like that or adding a second layer to my repro skins. tony

That stamping does look good. I have been banging, hammering and heat shrinking on my original doors. Alot of work just to save that little design. One door is in primer ready for paint and the other has the metal work done and ready for body filler.
