Just wanted to put up these pictures of the Wayne 40A face bezels(yellow) & Wayne 45 Twin face bezels(red) to show the differences between them. The Wayne 45 face bezels are thicker in the casting thickness of them compared to the Wayne 40A face bezels which are thinner. Also the Wayne 45 face bezels have the little spring loaded access doors on the right side of them.
I would also like to know if the Wayne 50 & 50A face bezels are the same as my Wayne 45 Twin face bezels? Specifically, do they have the small spring loaded access doors on the right side of them & are they thicker in the casting thickness like my Wayne 45 or are they thinner like the Wayne 40A bezels? Any info or discussion would be appreciated. Thanks, Bill

Bill--What purpose do those little trap doors serve?? I looked at pictures of a friens 50 and it looks to NOT have these. I will personally look when I get over there next but I'm really curious as to the function of these trap doors??

Totalizers on that pump are toward the center.
A little back asswards.
Access to read them?

I was looking in Jacks book and noticed the 45 in there does not have the little doors. They must be on one side only. My guess for the doors is to check the totalizer on the computer.

Matt,
If you look real close at the picture of the Wayne 45 Twin in Jack's book you can see that the face bezel on the left side of the pump has the little access door on it. I found out about a year or so ago who the owner of the pump was and called him, and he told me that these doors were to access the reading on the totalizer of the computer.
So you guys are right about why the doors are built into the bezel. Am still really curious if any of the Wayne 50's or Wayne 50A's had the access doors on the face bezels. Looking at the pictures in Jack's book are the faces on a Wayne 50 identical to the faces on a Wayne 50A? According to the pictures they are not, but I have never seen either one of these model of pumps in person. Maybe somebody reading this post will chime in on that question. Thanks, Bill

The 45 is the ONLY pump to use the 'window'. The pump shown in both editions of Jack's book is mine and that's the way the bezels are...
I have a number of 40's, 40A's and 50s and NONE of them have the extra window.

Ron,
Thanks for clarifying that question. Do all (4) of the face bezels have the access door on them or is it just the front (2) that have them, or maybe it is that the front left one has the access door and the back side opposite corner face bezel has the access door so you could read the totalizer on the opposite computer? Thanks, Bill

The computers have to reset in a certain direction.
I am not sure if the reset handle screws on like a 60 or 70...
if so, the handle HAS to be on a certain side of the computer,
or it will unscrew.
All the controls; reset, on-off, hose is on one side
No other pump except a twin would have this problem.
The left side bezel of front and back should have these view holes.
Note in the pic the computers are backwards to each other, this puts both of the totalizers toward the inside
and the reset works the same side of each computer. The side totalizer is just below the reset coupling on the side of a computer.
The window on the bezel is in the corresponding location.
These computers both have the notch in the variator for the longer 40-A faces.
The computer on the left is a 1935 the one on the right is a 1934

ORIGINAL WAYNE 40 COMPUTERS WILL NOT WORK
I will say this, I bet it was a B*tch to read !!!!
I hope this helps.
Joe

After looking at the 40 in the for sale section, it looks like the crankhandle is threaded and is on the totalizer side.
That would mean the crankhandle has to be different on the 45 or it would unscrew on the opposite side of the computer.....when trying to reset the unit.
