While picking up a parts truck from a guy in the Sierras this weekend, I stumbled upon these two engine analyzer machines on his property. He'll part with them, but I don't know what their real value is. I'd like to make him an offer, but would like not to overpay since I'll probably re-sell them after I clean them up.

Any thoughts on the values?

Thanks.

Well they have sitting exposed to the elements for a few years it looks like. Are you looking to restoring to working/using order or as looks good doesn't work eye candy? Do they have the manuals? I've bought and sold a few Sun analyzers, no experience with Marquette. low price 50 each with out manuals, high price 250 with all the manuals and attachments. tt

IMO these have very little value. they are common at the swap meets and are always dragged home by the sellers. the sun 920 tin sign on top is worth about $35-$50 by itself and the rest he would have to throw in for free. probally doesnt work, sitting in the weather, big, heavy, low demand = scrap to me

This reminds me of the farmer who wanted $1000 for a visible pump rusting away in a ditch, but the $150.00 mower was stored in the barn.

Before I would buy anything like this, I always ask myself, who else is interested in these items? Before someone reminds me that they are pieces of history so are kitchens from the 1950s, but they are being torn out and thrown away every day.

I wouldn't pay much for either considering the condition. If you really start checking around old auto repair shops, these can be found stored inside and in much better condition, and many times much older.

Check page 6 of this recent auction to see that these are not bringing much.

I'd like to have that bottom Sun cabinet for my top Sun working analyzer that I have in my gas station. A really nice guy gave it to me years ago and have been looking for the cabinet ever since.

Just my opinion but even if you got them for free, after all the effort of restoration, they might not work being left outside. Then your stuck with a fancy painted cabinet. Even if they work, Is there a demand for these? I think they are cool but my pockets are very shallow. It is a shame when you see stuff outside and think, "That would be cool" but if you have to give anything for it then you start out in the hole hoping you can dig yourself out. Good luck,
Mike

Here is an idea, restore that Dyna-Vision and start making low cost Sifi movies.

I have the Marquette machine that is in all working order with the manual. But I have no idea what it is worth. Really neat machine though. Call it "ET".
