I am working on a 1949 Ford F-4 Tanker truck. It will be done in Conoco.
We are looking for any pictures from the late forties early fifties to show what the color scheme would have been. Thanks for your help.

Go n ebay and type in Conoco Tanker or Truck. Conoco used to make die cast toys that may be a good model for you.

He has CONOCO letters that mount on the side of the tank. If he does any lettering on the doors they will be painted by hand after all is done.

I have looked at die cast but they are always to old of a truck. and I have seen them with red and white, green and silver, or red and black color combos. The owner is thinking red and white. I think a green and silver combo would look better.

I have found a few pictures but in black and white you never know what the colors are. Was hoping somone had some color shots from the fifties or later.
Keep looking for me. Thanks for the help. grin

I think it would look good green and white or green and silver. I like the Conoco green.

I have the Gas & Oil Trucks by Donald Wood, only the covers are color, just a quick look thru the book I didn't see a match to your tanker body, what brand is it? You might try www.aths.org tt

Whatever color combo you decide on,have you considered green accent stripes? Not a lot, maybe just straight lines kinda like the outline lines on some of the Conoco globes.I'll go through all my Conoco books and see what I come up with.

Jeremy, look closely at that door sign in the picture posted.A friend of mine has one that may be the same thing.Check your PM's.The truck it came off of,as he remembers, was all white.

Also the reference books I have show round Conoco door signs up to at least 1940;almost sure to have still been in use later than that.Looks like either/or to me on your project.
