Well I think I have accumulated enough oil can banks to bring them out of the box in the basement and into the light of day. I was planning on displaying them on top of the cabinets in the kichen but when it came to doing it, my wife was not so happy with the idea anymore. SO.... anybody have their banks displayed in a neat fashion or any ideas...pic's would be great!! I guess this could apply to any small oil collectables. Thanks...

If you are a skilled guy, I suggest building a down-sized version of an island oil can cabinet or rack. One that looks like the kind for quart cans, but sized down for the bank size cans. You could build it from wood or metal and paint it to look like a real one.

If you are lucky you may find a rack from de-icer or fuel additive I have one of them and I have it filled with 4oz tins, it even has a small tin sign on top.

Hi, do a search on Feebay for shot glass display cabinets. They work great for the oil can banks. Good luck

Take an old bulk lubester, paint it with your favorite colors, cut out one side, add shelves and voila, oil&gas themed display case.

Chris, I built a display case for some small race cars out of a chrome shell from a 30's radiator. It's easy to build a box in the back with some shelves. If the chrome is bad it can be sand blasted and painted. Unique and attractive. Gettum displayed......

These all sound like good ideas for me to explore. I really don't want to just put them on a book shelf if I can help it. I'm also toying around with building a narrow shelf to put on the wall in my office to run about 5 inches down from the ceiling and eventually filling all four walls of the entire room! Are there that many banks to buy?

I would guess that there are at least 300 mini oil can banks out there. I probably have about 250 and know of quite a few I don't have. There are many of European origin and some larger than the standard 4oz size but not the quart size. New discoveries are turning up all the time. Good luck on the hunt.

One more idea. Find a nice, good sized, picture frame and build an egg-crate insert. That way you can hang it at home until the wife re-decorates then take it to the office.
