I did that 850 in John Deere green a few years ago - yep, a quick resto - painted by Clint Pultony of Fordville, ND. I originally purchased the 850 from Oslosteve. After painting the pump I realized that it would not fit in my gas room with a the metal 15" body and I really didn't like how it looked with a 13-1/2" body. So, I sold the pump to a couple in Washington. I thought someplace along the line they had sold it, or are you the party that bought it Kent? Many times I wish I had kept it - overall it is a fairly decent pump. Take your time putting the bezels back on after you repaint it - they were a struggle to make sure the screws all properly aligned.

Nice Garage!

I see the visi-gage did get assembled - excellent!

Now that is so cool! I wondered what the history was on that pump when I got it. I bought it from a guy down around Lacenter,Wash. about 2 years ago. I think that is close to Bob's house in Longview. I bought some original face bezels for it because the ones that are on it I thought were repops? I had a pair of Wayne 60s to finish up first then on to that 81 and now finally I'll get to that 850. Wow,did I get a history lesson!! OK Bob,here they come. Thanks so much, Kent.

That Erie pump is awesome -- the milk glass top is so unique and looks amazing. How did you attach the ad glass in the doors? Is there rubber around the ad glass? Our pump has a sort of clip on each end of where the ad glass should go, but I can't figure out what holds it tight. We are also still looking for a top if anyone knows of one. Nice job on the pump!

Hi Chris. The ad glass slides up from the bottom and kind of rests in a grove on the lower add glass bracket. The tabs on the ends just keep the glass from moving out of that groove. You have to bend the tabs just a little at a time so you can still slide the glass into place and not be to tight to get them in place. If you put rubber around the glass in will not fit in the groove and be more likely to drop out. Be careful trial fitting the glass. I used original Richfield add glass and had it cut to fit properly. I think any glass on this style Erie pump didn't survive very well. This pump also has the original bubble glass over the face plates which didn't survive well either. Kent.

Kent,

You are correct, the bezels were repops from Ron Scobie - I also bought the attaching hardware from him. I see you still have the globe with the two different lenses. I am an indecisive person, I liked both of these lenses and they matched the pump. I thought that when I became tired of looking at one lense all I had to do was turn it around for a different view. If I do say so myself, the 850 still looks great. Also, if I remember right, OsloSteve purchased the pump in Ohio. I traded a nice Butler 61 for it and of course this pump also would not fit into my house - now I have neither frown

Is that Coke poster over the workbench in the first picture the real 1901 verson or a remake?

Kent --
I think you should put a nice Richfield globe on that Erie pump and sell me that plain old glass top!

Hey Koolmotor, Did the same thing with the add glasses on that 81 Erie. Couldn't make up my mind if I liked the Ethel or Hi-Octain lens better. So I know exactly what your saying!! Ya sure made my day with that history lesson too!! Thanks Kent.

Hi Alan. Thanks for the comments. And everyone else too. They really do make a guys day. Got a couple more pumps sprinkled around in there if anybody wants to see any more. It has to be OK'ed by Bob Richards tho. He has to get my slack on the pic thing. Thanks again Alan. Kent.
