I use the ppg color chart with the holes in it and you can go through enough catalogs and you will find a paint that even the best eye couldn't tell the difference. What do you say Larry? Ted

Brad, First, the number 17 is a Texaco paint number from the 1930's, NOT a number used by major auto paint manufacturers. Texaco color 17 was "Aluminum". Here is a quote from the Texas company painting standards. "TX-Clear Automotive Finishing Enamel: A high quality enamel, which must have good sprayinf properties and air dry under normal atomospheric conditions to a high gloss with minimum dirt retention. This enamel shall have the necessary properties to make it suitable for mixing with the color coat or to be applied separetely as a finish coat ..." In other words, I think what you want is a good grade "aluminum" color paint, and don't worry about the number. Ed

Texaco silver - PPG 2518
This is an old number but your counterperson can reference it to a current paint code.
Later . . .

Bryan, Thanks for the reply but he post he doesn't want any aluminum paints. Hope he has painted it by now as he asked this question 7 years ago. LOL
Looking for anything from Hoosier Pete, Platolene 500 and Red Bird.
